OSCU Weekly 34/2026: Welcome Back

It's been something of a difficult summer, dominated by heatwaves and wildfires. A consequence of science ignored. And with little signs of hope for a different direction on the horizon.

Academia itself has been occupied with a different matter - the death of Cambridge professor Jason Arday.

Open Science is a lot of things to a lot of people, but it should also mean that the research happening at our institutions is more immediately impactful on our world. It should also mean that we care for and protect our colleagues so that they can do their best work.

We have a long way to go.
